COVID-19 Info

THE RISK IN WISCONSIN REMAINS LOW

Novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continues to spread worldwide.  The current risk to Trempealeau County and surrounding residents remains low, even as additional cases have been reported in the United States.  For this reason, residents should prepare, but not panic. Health officials suggest having at least a 72-hour supply of food and water at home, a continuous supply of any regular prescription drugs on hand, and to talk with your family about minimizing their risk for exposure.

EXPERTS ARE WORKING TOGETHER

The Health Department is working with the WI Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to monitor COVID-19.  Our district has reviewed our emergency response plans and has a Pandemic Preparedness Plan ready in the unlikely event that cases arise in our community. We will continue to work with county and state experts to remain informed and ready.

HEALTHY HABITS THAT PROTECT YOU FROM ANY ILLNESS

Much of what you can do is similar to what you would do to prevent the flu, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds

  • Avoid close contact with people that are ill

  • Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

  • Stay home when you are ill

We are taking steps to disinfect surfaces, educate students on proper coughing/sneezing etiquette, and intentionally taking time during the day to complete proper handwashing.

STAY UP TO DATE

The COVID-19 situation is constantly changing and evolving.  We understand that there is worry and concern involved. We want to stress the importance of taking every precaution that you are able to.  We will closely monitor the reported cases and will plan to keep you informed as needed.

Please contact School Nurse Jean Glocke at 695-2696 x109 or local health department if you have questions.
